Marcia performs in the IMA Faculty Band along with Leah Kunkel, Christine Ohlman, Evelyn Harris, and June Millington.
The First Friday Coho Concert Series presents vocalist Samirah Evans on Friday, December 2, in the Great Room of the Common House at the Pioneer Valley Cohousing Community.
Evans will perform a stripped down and intimate program of originals mixed with jazz and blues standards entitled, “A Moment to Exhale.” Joining her will be pianist Franz Robert II, who Evans describes as “an incredibly gifted young pianist and lovely human being that everyone should hear.”
Doors will open at 7pm and the concert will begin at 7:30 with an opening act performed by singer songwriter Marcia Gomes, a Cleo Laine vocal scholar and graduate of Berklee College of Music. “Marcia and I have shared the stage a number of times, in fact she was a feature of my Ladies in Jazz series at the Arts Block in Greenfield. She is a phenomenal must see artist”, says Evans.
Marcia Gomes opens for Michelle Brooks Thompson, season 3 finalist on The Voice.
